How Do I Return Empty Containers?Updated 22 days ago

At Miniml, our return system is designed to help your business reduce waste, stay efficient, and keep packaging in circulation.

Every container you return is either cleaned and reused or recycled into new packaging -nothing is wasted.

♻️ How to Return Your Packaging

We offer three return options, depending on your location and volume.

🚚 Option 1: Automatic collection (van route)

If your business is within our delivery area, we’ll collect your empties each time we deliver your order.

✔ No need to book
✔ No forms required
✔ We manage everything for you

📝 Option 2: Request a collection (smaller returns)

If you're not on our van route, you can request a collection using our form:

You’ll need to submit a form every time you want a collection.

Once submitted, our team will review the details provided, and if the packaging is in a suitable condition to be re-used, we will generate a returns QR code for you. Returns are sent via Evri locker, Evri Parcelshop or collection from your address. Depending on Size and amount of empties you have and which is your preferred option.

Items that are deemed unsuitable for return can either be re-used at home, or recycled alongside other plastics with your local authority.

✅ Minimum requirements:

  • 4 × 1L Pouches
  • 4 × 5L containers
  • 1 × 20L container
  • A clear photo of the empties you are returning.

👉 We can only arrange a collection once these are met.

📦 Option 3: Pallet returns (larger volumes)

For larger returns, you can send your empties back to us on a pallet using a Miniml pallet net.

✅ Minimum pallet quantities:

  • 48 × 5L containers, or
  • 24 × 20L containers, or
  • A combination of both

👉 You must still complete the return form to confirm your volumes before arranging the collection.

🔒 Pallet nets & holding charge

To safely return your empties:

  • Pallet nets are available via our Wholesale website
  • A £45 holding charge applies per net
  • This is fully refunded once your return is collected

Additional info:

  • Nets may take up to 2 weeks to arrive (due to demand)
  • Once received, please arrange collection within 2 working days

🔄 What Happens to Your Returns?

Once your packaging reaches us:

1. Checked and sorted

Each container is inspected:

  • ✅ Suitable → cleaned and reused
  • ♻️ Not suitable → sent to our recycling partner (See FAQ on what happens next!)

🧼 Cleaning & Reuse

Reusable packaging goes through our controlled process in an industrial washing machine and is sanitised.

🌍 Why It Matters

By returning your packaging, your business:

  • Reduces waste at source
  • Supports circular manufacturing
  • Lowers environmental impact

It’s a simple but powerful way to move away from single-use systems.

❓ FAQs

Do containers need to be cleaned before return?
No - they don’t need to be thoroughly cleaned. Please just ensure they are completely empty and in a reusable condition, with no holes, damage, heavy staining, or significant discolouration.

What if some containers are damaged?
When your refills reach the end of their life, we pass them on to our recycling partner. They transform the plastic into HDPE pellets which can they be used to make new HDPE products using recycled materials. This means damaged empties don’t just get recycled, they’re reinvented into something that can be used for years to come.

Do I still need to fill in the form for pallet returns?
Yes - this helps us verify quantities and plan collections efficiently.
